Governing Council

The Governing Council (GC) of CVS consists of 19 members including 15 Founding Members, 2 nominated Eminent Professionals/ Personalities other than Chairpersons of Chapters and recommended by the founding members and approved by two-third majority of GC members, and 2 members from Chapters. Office bearers of CVS and Chapters are elected through an election process. All elected members of the Governing Council shall hold office till their successors are elected and installed at the next Annual General Body Meeting. All the Positions and Chairs shall be Honorary (Details in Byelaws) The CVS officers include the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past President.

The President

The President shall be elected by the Governing Council, from amongst the members of the Governing Council.
The roles and responsibilities of the President include:

  • Serves as the chief executive officer of the CVS and presides at all meetings of the CVS, and attends all meetings of the Governing Council.
  • Exercises general supervision over officers
  • Interprets and enforces the CVS’s Bye-Laws.
  • Controls, with the Treasurer, the financial transactions of CVS.

The Secretary & Director General

The Secretary and Director General shall be elected from amongst the elected members of the Governing Council.
The roles and responsibilities of the Secretary and Director General include:

  • Acts as Secretary of all CVS meetings and is responsible for the content of the minutes of Governing Council Meetings.
  • In consultation and coordination with the President participates in CVS and professional events
  • Submits a written Annual Report at the annual meeting of the CVS.
  • Receives nominations submitted by for elected positions and publishes these nominations along with their brief biographies and goals at least 21 days before the election date.
  • Responsible for the content of the agendas for Governing Council meetings as discussed with the Governing Council
  • Responsible for long range planning in support of the strategic activities of the President

The Treasurer

The Treasurer shall be elected from amongst the members of the Governing Council.

  • Serves as the Chief Financial Oofficer of the CVS and keeps complete records of financial transactions on behalf of the CVS.
  • Prepares and publishes a summary of the financial statements.
  • Finalizes accounting procedures in consultation with President for fair and transparent practices of accounting of CVS income and expenditures suitable for annual auditing.
  • Ensures that an annual financial audit of the CVS is conducted.
  • Prepares and submits reports for the Governing Council, and Annual Meeting.

The Vice-President

The Vice-President from amongst the elected Members of the Governing Council in a meeting of the Governing Council.
The roles and responsibilities of the Vice President include:

  • Serves as the chief executive officer of the CVS and presides at all meetings of the CVS in absence of President
  • Takes up special tasks as directed by the President
